Sumi Hong, LMFT, CAMS

I have been always interested in human behaviors, interpersonal relationships, and multicultural approaches in life. Being a psychotherapist is not only a name of my career, but it is also a journey of searching meanings in life while being connected with people and the world.

I have been very fortunate with meeting wonderful supervisors along my journey. I realized that it is time for me to return my gratitude to people who are seeking empathic clinical supervision experiences. I am sure that we will learn from each other and will grow together throughout the process.

I hope that new professionals can find a correct direction to travel. To me, the correct direction includes congruence, genuineness, and harmony. Before you try to understand clients, you must understand yourself fully so that you can be a competent guide for the journey.

WORDS I LIVE BY:
"At first you may not know how to recognize a keen-eyed teacher. But if you practice Zen for a while and listen to many Zen masters, you will soon understand what is correct teaching and what is not. If you don't taste sugar, you can't understand sweet; if you don't taste salt, you can't understand salty. No one can taste for you. You have to do it yourself." - Zen Master Seung Sahn
